Introduction

The recently renovated Dubai Creek is famous throughout the world for having one of the most recognizable clubhouses in golf - a beautiful white structure designed to look like a traditional Arab dhow (fishing boat). The course, which was recently revamped by long time Dubai resident Thomas Bjorn and company, has hosted the Dubai Desert Classic on two occasions (2000 and 2001). It's location, on the shores of meandering Dubai Creek in the heart of the city, is second to none. Undoubtedlty the most convenient of all Dubai's courses to get to.

The Golf
Although Emirates Golf Club is better known, Dubai Creek could be a better choice for golfers in Dubai on holiday. This resort-style layout is fringed by palm trees throughout, giving the place a definite tropical feel. Water is also much in evidence and provides a thrilling finish on the back nine - holes 16 thru 18 are as exciting as they come. Overall, however, the course is a much more forgiving test and should be the choice for those wanting to conserve golf balls - it's not easy by any stretch of the imagination, but it hasn't been built to give average players a really hard time either. An excellent test and a highly enjoyable one as well.

Play movie.....

From the blue tees (backs) the course measures a fairly hefty 6,857 yards (par 71). From the whites, where we played from, the course shrinks to a shade under 6,400. Even from here, there are a few par-4s over 400-yards to be negotiated, but you can take solace in the fact that they're comparatively friendly off the tee. The exception is the brilliant 17th - a short par-4 that hugs the side of the creek.

Maintenance

Good. Not quite as great as Arabian Ranches - the greens were a little sandy - but our timing was a little unfortunate. Normally conditions here are exceptional.

Caddie Service

No caddies at Dubai Creek.

007 Rating

Classy. This should be the course of choice for golfers looking for an enjoyable yet still challenging test. Because it's a resort course Dubai Creek is set up with holiday golfers very much in mind, which is more than can be said of Arabian Ranches. A definite must-play! Ace 12/06

Not only the golf courses are very nice at Dubai, the hotels......specially the one I stayed for 4 nights Mina A'Salam is excellent too.
