Course Design

Welcome to the most difficult course in China. This is no exaggeration. The beautiful Norman course at MH is as tough as they come and should only really be tackled by those who are 'on their game.'

From the tee the course doesn't look that dangerous. The fairways are fairly generous and although there are some long holes, the majority are within range for most golfers. The Norman's defences are threefold. 1) The rough is thick enough to lose your golf cart. 2) The bunkers are both numerous and exceptionally deep. 3) The greens are raised and feature more slope than an olympic ski jump. In short, this course requires precise iron play and a wonderful short game.

The front nine are situated on the exposed high part of the Dongguan site and, as a result, wind plays a big factor in determining how difficult the course plays. The fairways on this nine also feature a lot of undulation (not un-links like) so be prepared for some unusual lies. The back nine twist through a wooded valley and are an undeniably beautiful stretch of holes. Where water is used, it is used extremely effectively - most notably on the two par 3s on the back nine - holes 11 and 16.

The course has yet to be given an official course and slope rating but it is expected to exceed 75/150. In laymans terms that means it is very, very difficult - bring a lot of balls and a lot of patience.

Good luck!
