Vijay Course

The old Valley course was designed by Jack Nicklaus only few years ago but I think due to the construction of the new Savannah Course by Ernie Els, the club had to redesign the course and this time is by another Masters Champion - Vijay Singh.

In fact, the New Valley Course has retained 4 holes out of the old course, namely hole 1, 2, 17 &18, the rest are new design by Vijay.

There are 3 main features of the course, they are (a) most of the bunkers are BIG, they are more like a beach than a ordinary bunker, (b). most of the greens are very sloppy & some with different levels and finally, the distance from the blue tee is short - only at 6,143 yards.

This is another new course at Mission Hills so both landscaping & fairway will need some time to mature. But as far as the course's design goes - it was quite interesting as similar design is limited in the southern part of China.

The course is quite difficult to get a good score on due to the amount of water, massive bunkers & sloppy green, if it wasn't for the shorter distance, it will surely get the maximum of 5 chillies .
