Possibly due to the ban of building new golf courses by the government, the number of new courses in Guangdong seems to be slowing down....until a friend of mine told me that a new one is ready for play just outside of Foshan,Guangzhou, so I immediately booked a tee time with the best Golf Agent in town (Golf 007) & was there in a hurry (may be too hurry that we had puncture....).

The club is located at outskirt of Sanshui District, not far from the city center but still took us 2&1/2 hours drive from Huanggang......things we do for golf!!

As expected this is a new course with a temporary club house, however, the restaurant, reception counter, proshop & midway house are all fairly decent & clean, the service was attentive.

On a cold day.....ginger tea was served to players on the course....very nice.

The course designer is Joe F. Obringer, a quick search revealed that he is no stranger to building golf courses in China and has half a dozen or so of projects at different provinces, one of which is my favorite Ancient City International Golf Club at Lijiang.

Coming back to the course & its design, the course is built on and around several small hills in a mature woodland with an interesting mix of holes, the most dramatic is the signature 6th, it is the prettiest but also the hardest on the course. For those mid to high handicapper, don't worry, most other holes are fairly straight forward with generous fairways with little to no rough, which is good news, but only if you stick to the right tee as the blue is at a lengthy 6,737 yards, go to the forward tee if you lack distance and you will enjoy the round more....check course video

For a new club, the service and quality of food was pretty good. As for the course, there is no big surprise and dramatic holes, just simple, scenic and decent golf holes for your to enjoy. I have been told that the course is so well received that the developer is considering buliding a new 18.
