This is my first visit to Chengdu, and for some reason or just pure coincidence that, both my first & second round of golf in Sichuan are designed by JMP, the first round is the Grand Hills which just completed in 2008, the 2nd is this Luxehills which opened for business 2007 and in 2010 it was awarded“China Top 10 Golf Clubs”, the course is located about 30 minutes drive from the city center and is a part of a big property development.

The club is nicely fitted with contemporary design but the shower cubicles in locker room are limited & I had to wait naked due to too many people. The service of the staffs were ok & the food was good though.

I don't usually like playing at golf courses within a housing project but the houses here are not too intrusive and I did not notice much of them when I played as most of them are built behind tress and out of sight.

Had a quick look of the scorecard before I teed off, the blue tee is a daunting 6,698 yards but the white is only 6,059 yards, so I decided to go for the blue tee and possibly due to some of the 'wider' fairways, I found the course not as hard as I thought, and enjoyed playing due to the different & interesting design.

A rather unusual set up, 3 out of 4 of the par 3s (#2,#12 & #17), they all have a very similar distance from the blue tee at 175ish yards...wonder why?

As to the design of the holes, I like 2 par 3s, they are #2, & #17...very pretty, in addition, the par 4 #9 & the final par 5 #18 are challenging & well designed.

The club has gained a lot of reputation & fame for hosting big tournaments and the design & conditioning of the course did not disappoint, it is well above average, it would be even better if the club facilities & service can be improved a bit.....but still an excellent course.
