Golf007 Amateur Championship Tour: 8th Round

The eighth round of the 007 Tour Championship was played at Lakefront Golf Club in Huizhou on 16 November. As a result of the poor condition of the greens, 3 and even 4 putts were commonplace, which was reflected by the relatively high scoring.

Nevertheless, Law Chi Ming showed a steady nerve and was able to claim his third title of the year thanks to his respectable round of 80. Law now sits atop the Order of Merit standings with 861.5 points. Ivan Leung, who carded an 84 at Lakefront, is second in the merit title with 756.5 points.

In the Nett division, Patrick Ho, playing for the first time on the 007 Tour, took the title with a 69. David Wan was able to maintain his position at the top of that league with 595.7 points, despite an indifferent showing in the eighth round. John Lau, who was absent from Lakefront due to business commitments, remains in second place with 567.5. points.

Randall King, a regular Tour competitor, won the longest drive contest, while Alain Roberge hit it closer than anyone else in the Men’s nearest-the-pin competition.

With two more rounds remaining, including a major championship, there’s still all to play for.

The next match will be on 7 December at Fenguangshan, which is also known as Phoenix Hill, which is an even tougher test of golf. Who will come out on top?
